Chemistry Ionic Formulas Write the Room

Are you looking for a quick and engaging way for students to practice writing ionic formulas from names? Write the room activities are a quick, engaging way for students to practice skills. This Write the Room activity is a great way for students to gain additional practice!

This activity contains 10 letter-sized pages containing ionic name prompts. Students will be asked to write the formula from the name. These ionic names to formulas prompts will include:

  • main group elements

  • transition metals

  • polyatomics

Students are given a recording sheet to write down their answers. The 10 sheets are hung up around the room, and individuals or groups of 2 will roam around the room, recording their answers. Students could also write their responses on a whiteboard.

This resource comes with 10 pages of ionic name to formula prompts, along with a student recording sheet, and a key. This resource does come in color, but could be printed in black and white as well.
